The Online Listing

In January 2026, Eliza Morales and her husband listed a used pickup truck for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

The buyer, later identified as 19 year old Nedas Revuckas of Westmont, Illinois, responded to the listing and arranged to purchase the vehicle. The transaction appeared ordinary. There was no prior relationship between the two parties, and no indication of conflict during the initial exchange.

After the sale, a second meeting was scheduled. The purpose was to complete paperwork and exchange license plates.

The Second Meetup

On the day of the second meeting, Eliza Morales was home alone.

Her husband was at work. Their young daughter was not present.

Revuckas arrived at the apartment to complete the follow up exchange. What happened inside the residence during that meeting would later become the focus of a criminal investigation.

The Attack

According to prosecutors and court records, Eliza Morales was attacked inside her apartment and suffered multiple stab wounds.

She was five months pregnant at the time.

The official cause of death was homicide due to stabbing. Authorities have stated that she was stabbed dozens of times. Her unborn child did not survive.

The family dog was also stabbed during the incident but survived.

The Fire

After the attack, the apartment was set on fire.

Emergency responders later found Morales deceased inside the residence. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.

The suspect fled the scene.

Arrest and Charges

Nedas Revuckas was later located and arrested. He is a resident of Westmont, Illinois, a suburb located only a few miles from where the killing occurred.

He has been charged with multiple serious felonies, including:

  • First degree murder

  • Intentional homicide of an unborn child

  • Aggravated arson

  • Armed robbery

  • Aggravated cruelty to animals

A judge denied pretrial release, citing the severity of the crime and the threat to public safety.

The Weapon Detail

Court records confirm that Eliza Morales died from multiple stab wounds.

However, authorities have not publicly stated when or where the weapon was obtained.

Investigators have not confirmed whether the weapon was brought to the apartment or picked up inside the residence. That detail has not been clarified in official filings or police statements.

This remains one of the unresolved elements of the case.

What Is Known and What Is Not

What is confirmed:

Eliza Morales was killed by stabbing. The attack occurred during a Facebook Marketplace meeting. The suspect had no known prior relationship with the victim. A fire was intentionally set after the killing. The suspect is in custody and facing multiple felony charges.

What is not publicly confirmed:

When the weapon was obtained. Whether the attack was planned in advance. What exactly triggered the violence inside the apartment.

The Broader Context

Facebook Marketplace and similar platforms have become a common way for strangers to meet in person for private transactions.

In this case, a routine online sale placed a woman alone with someone she had never met before inside her own home.

There were no public warnings. No prior disputes. No signs that the meeting would turn dangerous.

Current Status

As of early 2026, the suspect remains in custody awaiting further court proceedings.

The case is ongoing.

Many details, including motive and precise sequence of events inside the apartment, have not yet been fully disclosed.

Reflection

This case is not defined by complexity or mystery. It is defined by how ordinary it began.

A used truck. A follow up meeting. A door opened to a stranger.

And two lives that never left that apartment.
